This course will give attendees a basic understanding of explosives, their capabilities and legitimate applications. The nature of the materials will be discussed as well as the potential dangers associated with mishandling and improper usage.
Further discussion will include current trends in Improvised Explosive Devices in domestic terrorism as well as the effect of the internet in contributing to the dangers of IED’s faced by public safety personnel.
The course will include a basic overview of Bomb Squad operations and the tools available to today’s Bomb Technicians. The roles of supporting public safety agencies, Police, Fire, HAZMAT and EMS will be highlighted.
